Dino Crisis 2 is coming back. Twenty-six years after it landed on PlayStation 1 in 2000, Capcom’s dinosaur survival horror is joining the PlayStation Plus catalog, playable on PS5 and PS4.

There’s a catch, and it’s the one you’re already bracing for. The game is free only for Premium tier members. Essential and Extra subscribers who want in will have to upgrade.

Sony made it official at the September State of Play, which spotlighted the game’s arrival on the service. No exact date yet. Sony says to expect it on PS Plus Premium at some point in 2026.

Three other games are joining the catalog

Dino Crisis 2 isn’t arriving alone. Four titles are heading to PS Plus, and some of them are considerably more recent.

Mega Man X: Command Mission was confirmed for September. The original Ratchet & Clank and Mycopunk were both announced for later this year.

This isn’t a remaster, a remake, or a re-release in the way those words usually get thrown around. It’s a classic dropped into a modern subscription library, which is its own kind of preservation.

The PS1 back catalog keeps resurfacing

Older games have been finding their way onto PS5 steadily. Earlier this year the PS1 title Geppy-X arrived on PlayStation 5, remastered by studio Bliss Brain. Before that, six classic Rugrats games joined the modern PlayStation ecosystem through a release by Limited Run Games.

Dino Crisis 2 follows the original Dino Crisis, which was added to PlayStation Plus a few years back. Both main entries in the series will now be available on modern hardware, and Premium members won’t pay extra for either.

If you’ve never played one

Think Resident Evil, but the things chasing you are dinosaurs instead of zombies. There are other differences, sure. The basic pitch holds up.

And if classic Resident Evil is your thing, both Dino Crisis games are almost certainly going to land for you.

A rough stretch for PlayStation, minus the services

Plenty of controversy has followed PlayStation recently, much of it tied to the company announcing the end of physical game disc production going forward. The services, though, keep delivering.

Being able to load up a PS1 game from 2000 on a PS5 is a small, specific pleasure, and there’s more of it on the way.
