In Brief:
- EVE Frontier (official site) started āInto the Void,ā an exploration event running Sept. 15 to Sept. 22, and published the rules only in the gameās Discord.
- The event asks players to travel past the mapped reaches of the Frontier and out-range every other Rider.
- It arrives four days after developer Fenris Creations demonstrated a fog of war system, the exploration mechanic the studio put at the center of its September cycle plans.
EVE Frontier began a weeklong exploration event Tuesday that sends players past the mapped edge of the star cluster and scores them on how far they get.
Into the Void runs Sept. 15 to Sept. 22. Fenris Creations, the studio behind the game, routed the rules and rewards to the EVE Frontier Discord rather than its public news page, so the scoring method, the reward table and whether the results feed a leaderboard arenāt visible outside the server.
Into the Void begins today.
Travel beyond the known reaches of the Frontier. Seek unexplored stars. Survive the dangers waiting in the dark. Push farther than any other Rider.

āTravel beyond the known reaches of the Frontier. Seek unexplored stars. Survive the dangers waiting in the dark. Push farther than any other Rider,ā the announcement said.
The timing lines up with fog of war
Four days before the event opened, on Sept. 11, the studio showed a fog of war system during its weekly Frontier Friday stream. That mechanic was one of three items Fenris attached to Cycle 7 in a video roadmap it released July 7, alongside a new ābroken worldā region and what the studio called a foundational resource.
The roadmap placed Cycle 7 in September. Fenris hasnāt named a start date for it.
Cycle 6, titled Sanctuary, launched June 25 after a May 15 announcement and wiped the server. Grace Points earned in Cycle 5 converted into EVE Points at the reset. The cycle passed its halfway mark in August.
What Cycle 6 changed
Sanctuary moved the game to modular ships. Players start with a vessel Seed and bolt on modules over time, and basic printing, refining and module construction now happen aboard the ship itself.
Stars became active hazards in the same update. Heat builds on exposed hulls based on distance and line of sight, wrecks, rocks and structures give temporary cover, and sustained exposure does lasting damage that requires new survival items to treat.
The cycle also added Leeches, which attach to ships, strip resources, then retreat and turn into chrysalises before emerging as Wreck Stalkers. Ferals compete with players for resources and react to what players do.
On the economy side, Sanctuary introduced a fuel-driven LUX currency that can be exchanged for a test version of the planned EVE token. Players earn it by looting derelict drones and trading with nomadic trader drones.
Recent patches favored scanning
A Cycle 6 patch added one-way catapult jump gates, new modules for the scanning tool, more modules for several ship pieces, and reworked early-game industry with heavier emphasis on salvaging and updated recipes.
A Sept. 4 update was smaller. It added a spaceship refueler module, put owner-toggleable transponders on network nodes, gates and catapults, tightened the opening tutorial steps and renamed several status effects.
Background
Pearl Abyss sold CCP Games back to the studioās management on May 1 for $120 million. CCP then renamed itself Fenris Creations and moved its announcements to fenris.com.
The game migrated from Ethereum to Sui earlier this year, during Cycle 5: Shroud of Fear, which opened with a free trial on April 1. Fenris and Sui followed that with a three-week hackathon drawing more than 800 participants and over 120 projects. The $25,000 grand prize went to CradleOS, a player-led civilization management system.
Anyone hoping to join Into the Void needs a Founder Access pack. The free window that opened with Cycle 6 on June 25 closed at the end of that month.
