There’s a dungeon entrance sitting on the beach at Feldcroft that Avalanche never put there. Walk into it and you’re in Gaunt Manor.
That’s the pitch for a new dungeon mod from a creator going by filit_, and it’s the closest thing Hogwarts Legacy players have had to new content in months.
The family nobody wanted to talk about
The Gaunts are one of the ancient pure-blood wizarding families in the Harry Potter universe, and the maternal line is responsible for the birth of Lord Voldemort. Direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin. Not remembered fondly by anyone.
Their story never got much room in the books or the films, which is exactly why a mod built entirely around their crumbling estate is worth your attention.
“Located near Little Hangleton, where the snakes start to sing,” the official description reads. “Before the manor became increasingly marked by the growing poverty and neglect of the Gaunt family, losing the splendor of more glorious times, it was the impressive family estate of one branch of the direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin. Even in 1890, the first signs of decay could already be seen, but the magic of the powerful family legacy was still palpable.”
What you’re actually doing in there
This is Ominis’ family home, and the mod leans on exploration and discovery rather than combat. You’re not fighting for your life. You’re poking around someone’s ruined house.
Five letters are scattered through the manor, written to give you an impression of the Gaunt family as the creator imagines them. There are Easter eggs too. Custom designs, custom interiors, decoration you can stop and look at.
And yes, you can take photos. The mod page has the dungeon entrance marked on the Hogwarts Legacy map if you’d rather not comb the Feldcroft shoreline yourself.
Why modders are carrying this game
Hogwarts Legacy released in 2023 and became the best-selling game of the year. Then it went quiet. The lack of post-game content left it in the dust, and a brief summer update that offered a handful of cosmetics didn’t change much.
Officially, there’s been nothing to bring players back. Unofficially, there’s a modding community, and it’s the sole reason the Harry Potter RPG is still as popular as it is.
Gaunt Manor is filit_’s first dungeon mod, which makes the scope of it more impressive, and it’s free for anyone who owns the game on PC. Something to do while the sequel stays exactly where it is.
