STEPN adds two Marathon Season 3 Sneaker designs for players who finish

STEPN introduced two new Sneaker designs for Marathon Season 3 on Wednesday. Both are rewards for players who complete the season’s daily Energy requirement.

The first is the Marathon Sneaker. The studio said it comes in “A total of 50 candlelit designs for our Season Pass holders who complete the Round Energy requirement.”

The second is the Marathon Genesis Sneaker, which STEPN described as coming “With its chandelier.” The text of the announcement available at publication didn’t describe the Genesis design in full or explain how players would receive it.

What the Energy requirement means

The Round Energy requirement depends on the stake tier. Players pick a reward pool by locking 50, 100 or 200 USD, then have to spend two, four or six Energy a day. That Energy can be burned in either STEPN or STEPN GO (official site), and players can enter more than one tier.

Each round lasts 14 days. Miss a day and you’re out. You lose your stake for that round and have to register again to get back in.

Players who finish all 14 days keep their full stake and split whatever eliminated players lost in their pool. They’re entered in the next round automatically unless they opt out.

Season 3 added insurance that covers one missed day. It has to be bought before a round starts.

The Season Pass

The Season 3 Season Pass costs 20 USD. It’s a one-time purchase that covers the whole season and comes with exclusive avatars, extra name changes, premium identity features and VIP status.

The pass doesn’t lower the bar. Holders still have to complete all 14 days of every round.

Genesis supply

Genesis Sneakers have IDs that start with “G” followed by a number from 1 to 20,000. STEPN and STEPN GO draw from a single Genesis pool capped at 20,000.

Genesis Sneakers have been handed out through the Marathon before. In Season 1, which began Oct. 27, 2025, players who ran a 42 km marathon or a 21 km half marathon during the closing STEPNathon event earned a LEGEND badge, an exclusive background and a raffle entry for Genesis Sneakers with limited skins. That season’s Season Pass rewards included raffle mints for Marathon Sneakers, Genesis included.

Season 3 schedule

Season 3 runs six rounds of 14 days each, roughly 12 weeks in all. Registration opened Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. UTC and closed Aug. 10 at noon UTC.

Round 1 ran from Aug. 10 to Aug. 24. Round 2 started Aug. 24 and ran to Sept. 7, with Round 1 finishers carried over automatically.

Other Season 3 changes included better team features, custom avatars and Marathon names, updated profiles, leaderboards covering the full season and clearer challenge tracking.

STEPN opened the announcement with one line: “A little reward for those who go the distance.”
