Arena, the club-management football mode that shares its $MFL (official site) currency with Pro Manager, opens to everyone on Tuesday 27 October at 2pm CET. There’s no code, no waiting list and no Discord invite needed. You create your club and a few minutes later you’re on the touchline for your first match.

The public launch follows a three-week beta. When it started, the ladder was empty. Players climbed it, broke things and sent feedback, and the developers say the version launching tomorrow is better for it.

The problem the beta exposed

The complaint that came up most was that new managers stalled too early. You’d win your first matches and open your first pack, and then progress went flat. Rewards were small in the lower divisions, which is where every club starts.

The developers say this is the opposite of what Arena should be. A club should improve every day you play, and there should always be something worth playing for. Three changes came out of that: a new currency, more progression and fairer matchmaking.

Gems, an Arena-only currency

The low rewards came from the shared economy. Every $MFL that Arena pays out counts in the same economy Pro Manager club owners rely on, so payouts in the lower divisions had to stay small.

Gems belong to Arena only, so the team can be generous at the start. A new manager in Amateur III who plays their 10 matches, logs in every day and wins once a day earns over 350 Gems in their first week. That’s seven 30+ packs. The same week in the beta got you one.

Gems are spent in the Store, on Arena packs and OVR boosts. The login streak, first wins and quests together pay up to 780 Gems a week. Weekly payouts, first-time bonuses and the Season Pass don’t count towards that limit.

$MFL is still the top prize

$MFL stays the currency shared by Arena and Pro Manager, and it’s still what the best Arena managers play for. To qualify for the weekly payout, you need to play at least 10 matches that week. From the Pro division up, you also need to win 5 of them. The week closes every Monday at 11pm CET.

Fairer matchmaking and shorter waits

In the beta, squads that grew quickly through packs could sit low on the ladder for a while and kept meeting much weaker clubs. That was fun for one side and miserable for the other.

Now, for your first 30 matches of each season, matchmaking looks at the strength of your starting XI as well as your rank. A strong squad meets strong opponents straight away, and new clubs play sides closer to their level. In Amateur, your opponent’s XI can’t be more than 5 OVR above yours. In Prospect, the limit is now 10.

The wait between matches also drops from five minutes to one, so after a loss you’re straight back into the next game.

Season 1 starts from zero

Season 1 is a clean slate. One rule carries over: a pro player plays one mode per season, decided by their first match.

At 2pm tomorrow the ladder is empty again. Nobody is in Legend, every club starts at Amateur III, and there are twenty spots at the top.

The developers thanked the beta managers who played, reported bugs and shared feedback, along with the content creators who handed out access codes during the test.
