Moriusa has laid out its reasons for moving to Soneium. The Japanese character brand said its plans line up with the network’s push to build entertainment around tokenized IP.
“Moriusa is a beloved Japanese IP growing across Web2 and Web3, with Mofees at the heart of that journey,” the Moriusa account said in a post on X.
@moriusa_STPR, a real IP with fans around the world is building out their future on Soneium.
That's how an onchain entertainment story starts taking shape.
“Soneium is building an onchain entertainment ecosystem around tokenized IP, creators, and fans,” the post said. “That vision aligns with ours of”
Soneium’s official account quickly backed the move. “@moriusa_STPR, a real IP with fans around the world is building out their future on Soneium,” Soneium said. “That’s how an onchain entertainment story starts taking shape.”
Bridge listed, announcement pending
The Moriusa collection page on the Soneium Portal links to an NFT bridge at bridge.yay.space/moriusa. The page doesn’t say which chain the NFTs are coming from or how the process works.
It does tell users to “Stay tuned for an announcement on Thursday, November 5.” No further details on the migration had been published as of Nov. 4.
The portal describes the Mofees as a group of Moriusas together, with each Moriusa showing up with its own mood, moment and outfit. “Moriusa and the Mofees are now hopping onto the blockchain,” the page said.
First IP Token on Soneium
Soneium named Moriusa as its first IP Token on Oct. 26. The same announcement put the Ethereum layer 2 behind a Tokenized IP model and revealed plans for a native $SONEIUM token.
Soneium described Moriusa as “a popular character IP from Super State Holdings, the Tokyo-based entertainment group.” The network said fans and supporters can help take the IP into physical merchandise, animated short series and broader licensing.
Under the framework, IP Tokens can be fungible or collectible. Soneium also listed IP Vaults, which provide “access to royalty backed assets,” and Tokenized IP Bonds backed by entertainment businesses.
Three components sit underneath. One is an IP Registry for ownership records. The second is an IP Graph that maps how original and derivative works connect. The last is an Execution Layer that automates “royalties, revenue splits and licensing payments” through smart contracts.
Moriusa isn’t the only partner. Soneium is working with DayOneDream, the K-pop IP holder managing artists including BTOB and LEE CHAE YEON, to bring “concert business royalties” onchain as Tokenized IP Bonds.
No token yet
Soneium said the $SONEIUM token is designed to “align creators, IP owners, builders, fans and investors with the growth of the Soneium economy.” But it said “no $SONEIUM token has been issued,” and details are “to be announced at a later date.”
The network hasn’t disclosed a launch date or tokenomics. Its announcement said it describes “Soneium’s vision and plans, which may change.”
Soneium runs on the OP Stack and was co-developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs and Startale.
A Web2 character first
Moriusa is a purple rabbit created by Nanamori (ななもり。) and produced by Super State Holdings. The character already had an audience on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and X before arriving onchain.
The Soneium Portal cites a sold-out Tokyo Dome event as part of that track record.
“Entertainment starts with creators,” Yuji Kumagai, head of Soneium Protocol, said when the network announced its pivot. “Today, Soneium enters a new stage built to stand behind them.”
