Sky Mavis opened Axie Classic Competitive Season 16 on Aug. 12 with 36,000 bAXS in rewards, the last season of the game’s second Competitive Circuit and the last one the studio plans to operate.
The Season Leaderboard runs through Sept. 2 at 00:00 UTC. Mini tournaments begin Aug. 13 and continue to Sept. 10, each day carrying a 500 bAXS pool.

Where the 36,000 goes
The Guild and Arena leaderboards account for a combined 19,000 bAXS. The Guild Leaderboard pays the top 30 guilds out of 14,500 bAXS. The Arena Leaderboard pays the top 100 ranked players a total of 4,500 bAXS.
Guild Milestone rewards stack. A guild that reaches the final milestone collects the payouts for every milestone below it. Guild Points reset once the season ends.
The free Battle Pass is running again this season, paying out gold, artifact copies and up to 4,000 Dusts for competing.
Two invitational seats left
Season 16 hands out the final two qualification slots for the Champions Invitational, an eight-player event with a 5,000 bAXS prize pool.
Four of those seats go to the No. 1 Arena Leaderboard finisher from each season between S13 and S16. The other four go to each Season Championship winner. If one player qualifies through both routes, the seat drops to the next highest-ranked player from that Season Championship who hasn’t already qualified.
That rule has already been triggered twice. Chan won the Season 15 Championship but held a seat as a former Champion. JL finished No. 1 on the S15 Arena Leaderboard and was also already in. The slot passed to Eshaz, the Season 15 Championship runner-up.
The last one
When the mini tournaments finish on Sept. 10, Sky Mavis stops running regular competitive seasons for Classic and ends active feature development.
The studio has said it wants the community to take over direction, tournament organization and future development. It hasn’t settled the details of how governance, tooling or reward structures will work after the handoff.
Without official seasons, prize funding, event hosting and balance feedback fall to players, guild leaders and third-party organizers.
Sky Mavis is putting its resources elsewhere in the franchise. Origins is in Season 18 with an Elite 4 tournament format. Terrariums, the land gameplay system, moved to version 1.1, letting land owners raise their Atia's Flame metrics and earn bAXS through item placements and Axie setups. Atia's Legacy, the action MMO with real-time PvP and boss battles, is heading into its fourth playtest.
How the circuit was built
Competitive Circuit 2 was laid out as a four-season run from S13 through S16. Starting with Season 14, all circuit rewards shifted to bAXS.
Season 15 also carried a 36,000 bAXS pool, the same figure Sky Mavis put up for the finale.
Classic quests come off the daily Bounty Board on Sept. 10, the same day the mini tournaments end.
