Don’t Die
What is Don't Die?
Don't Die is a casual roguelike fought with dice. Its own one-line summary is the title itself — "You have one job. Don't Die" — and its longer one is that every battle is settled by dice you have built: you assemble them, take risks with them, and look for combinations that push a run further than the last. Runs are always different, and the game is explicit that there is no single correct path through one, only better choices and worse ones.
How to play
There is nothing to download. You sign up with an email address or a social login and play in any browser, on a phone or a desktop, and it is built to be learned in the first few minutes of play rather than out of a tutorial. Around the core run sit the things that make it a habit: hand-crafted daily challenges, tournament modes, leaderboards to climb, and in-game rewards for qualifying.
How it is run
Don't Die is treated as a live game rather than a finished one. The developers ship regular updates, run the tournament calendar themselves, and ask players to join the community to help steer where the game goes next. Between that and the browser-first design, it sits closer to a daily puzzle habit than to a sit-down session game — short bursts, several times a day, on whichever screen is nearest.

Our verdict on Don’t Die
Don't Die is a combat game on Avalanche built around a single, unusual idea: your health bar is a currency rather than a safety margin. Winning a battle at low health pays out more points through what the game calls the Low Health Bonus, and the shopkeeper mechanic, Bub's Barter, lets a player short on gold settle the bill in blood. Health is therefore something you spend deliberately, not something you hoard.
What works is that this collapses two decisions most combat games keep separate — how safely to fight, and what to buy — into one running tension. Deliberately staying wounded to inflate a score is a legible, repeatable skill test, and the barter system means even a bad economy round gives you something to trade.
What is harder to judge from the outside is depth. A scoring hook this sharp lives or dies on whether the underlying combat has enough variety to keep the risk calculation interesting past the first few sessions, and the public material says little about the developer or about how the Avalanche layer affects progression.
It suits score-chasers and players who enjoy pushing a run to the edge; anyone wanting story or a forgiving pace should look elsewhere.
