In Brief:
- Immortal Rising 2 released Pet Awakening, letting players awaken pets up to five stars and raising the maximum pet level to 400.
- Awakened pets keep their existing level, attributes and skills, and gain significant base stat increases.
- The feature extends the Pet System that Bad Beans shipped in June, one of the additions the studio outlined in its January developer letter.
Immortal Rising 2 has turned on Pet Awakening, a progression layer that takes pets past their existing caps to five stars and a maximum level of 400.
Awakening carries over what players already built. Pets retain their level, attributes and skills through the process, and the studio said awakened pets receive significant base stat increases.

“Take your pets beyond their current limits and awaken them to reach new tiers of power,” the studio said in its announcement post.
Pets arrived in June
The Pet System went live in the June update, alongside a seasonal Picnic Event and limited-time packages tied to Greater Rift runs and Arcane Stone upgrades.
Pets fight alongside Immortals rather than sitting in a cosmetic slot. Players deploy them across stages, arenas and rifts, and the June rollout answered a request the community had made repeatedly.
Awakening gives that system a second growth axis. Before, pet power was bounded by the original level ceiling; the five-star track and the 400 cap extend it.
A steady patch cadence
Bad Beans has shipped monthly. The July patch opened pre-registration for Guild War, lifted the stage ceiling from 3,000 to 4,000 and added two systems, the Divine Beast Cradle and Equipment Auto-Forge.
In May the studio pushed Greater Rift Abyss to Stage 60. Guild War had sat on the roadmap since 2025, when it appeared next to SSS-grade Symbols, a third SSS-grade equipment set and a skin system.
Where it came from
The pet work traces to a developer letter published around Jan. 23 and signed by GM Dubu. It laid out a rebuild of the game’s core systems aimed at progression clarity, build diversity and long-term grind incentives.
That letter promised a full skill system renewal, a reworked guide quest flow, a new Earth attribute and U5 and U6 grade Arcane Stones. It also committed to a sequential rollout of a Skin System and a Pet System built to fight alongside players.
Some of those features slipped. The Skin System had been slated for the second half of 2025 before moving into the 2026 cycle.
Funding and token
Immortal Rising 2 is developed by Bad Beans and published by Planetarium Labs, the studio behind Nine Chronicles. It runs on Immutable zkEVM.
Planetarium Labs raised more than $32 million in a Series A led by Animoca Brands. The game took a separate $3 million round in March 2025, closing it as the Immortal Statue NFT sale wrapped ahead of the March 27 token generation event.
Backers in that round included Spartan Group, Immutable, MARBLEX, Comma3 Ventures, Sovrun, 32-Bit Ventures, Notch Ventures and angel investors.
IMT launched across Ethereum and Immutable with total supply capped at 1 billion tokens and a progressive unlock schedule running 48 months from TGE. It functions as a governance and staking asset rather than a game currency; players earn Starlight from competitive content and convert it into IMT at a rate the foundation can change.
The game had passed 8.8 million downloads by the time of the March 2025 raise, according to Immutable co-founder Robbie Ferguson. Its predecessor, Immortal Rising, drew more than 2 million downloads and held the top spot among idle RPGs in South Korea for eight months.
