LEGO’s Longest Set Ever Is the Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer, So Clear Some Shelf Space

Fifty-three and a half inches. That’s how much horizontal real estate LEGO’s new Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer is about to demand from your home, and no amount of creative furniture rearranging is going to change that math.

It’s the longest set LEGO has ever made.

Not the priciest. Not the one with the most bricks. But at more than 136 cm, this 6,130-piece Ultimate Collector Series model sets a fresh company record for sheer length. You’d need a very deep Dagobah swamp to hide it in.

The numbers you’ll want before you commit

The set runs $799.99 (£649.99) and goes on sale October 4, with LEGO Insiders getting early access from October 1.

Full dimensions: 7.5 inches (20 cm) tall, 53.5 inches (136 cm) long, 20 inches (50 cm) wide. It weighs just over 11 lbs / 5 kg. Go measure the shelf. Then measure it again.

Vader’s ride, for anyone who needs the refresher

The Executor is the sleek, supersized Star Destroyer Darth Vader uses as his flagship in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It shows up at the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor, and it’s where Vader holds that meeting with the bounty hunters.

Those bounty hunters are in the box. Minifigures include Vader, Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, IG-88, 4-LOM and Zuckuss. There’s also a mini build of the ship’s bridge.

LEGO Insiders will be eligible for a Gift With Purchase, while stocks last, of a buildable recreation of Vader’s lightsaber.

The real thing was roughly the size of Manhattan

In Star Wars lore, the Executor stretched over 19 km. That’s Manhattan, floating in space, bristling with turbolasers.

It went down anyway. A Rebel pilot crashed into the command bridge during the battle around Endor’s moon, which knocked out the shields and sent the whole thing plowing into the second Death Star. Another Empire design flaw, filed alongside the others.

The ship was apparently crewed by an army in the hundreds of thousands. Best not to think too hard about that part while you’re snapping the hull plates into place.
