In Brief:
- MattleFun said v4.2.0 of Mattle Run is now live on all platforms, with Halloween updates and UI improvements.
- The patch changes how lighting works in Blackout Mode: scarecrows get lighting support, chests and weapons give off light and mobs’ eyes glow in the dark.
- A new item, the Pumpkin Lantern, adds 40% to a player’s light radius.
MattleFun has pushed version 4.2.0 of Mattle Run to every platform it supports. The update centers on Blackout Mode, and most of the changes deal with lighting.
“v4.2.0 is now live on all platforms,” the team posted on X. “Halloween updates + UI improvements are here.”

What changed in Blackout Mode
Earlier, the studio had previewed the patch in a separate post. “Blackout Mode is getting major upgrades in v4.2.0, coming very soon,” it said.
That post listed four changes. Scarecrows get lighting support. Chests and weapons now give off light. Mobs’ eyes glow in the dark, so players can see enemies they otherwise couldn’t.
The fourth is a new item. The Pumpkin Lantern gives “+40% light radius,” according to the announcement.
Neither post explained how Blackout Mode itself works. Going by the patch list, light sources and visibility drive the mode, and every listed change either adds a light source or makes something easier to see.
What wasn’t said
MattleFun hasn’t released full patch notes alongside the launch post. The team didn’t spell out what the UI improvements cover, and it didn’t say which items count as the Halloween content beyond the pumpkin-themed lantern.
The preview post didn’t give a release date either. It described the update only as “coming very soon” before the follow-up confirmed it had shipped.
Background
Mattle Run is the pixel wave-survival game inside MattleFun’s Solana trading platform. It follows the Vampire Survivors formula, with players fighting off continuous waves of enemies.
The game’s loop is tied to trading. Volume run through the platform’s built-in, Jupiter-powered trading terminal turns into Boosting Points, and those points raise character stats including Health, Defense, Movement and Luck.
Players also progress through daily missions and promotional airdrops. The project has its own token, MATTLE, on Solana.
MattleFun runs on Android and in web browsers, and it works with Solana's Seeker handset. The project won a Solana Mobile Hackathon prize and added Solana Name Service integration in October 2025. It’s still in beta.
The launch post itself was two lines long: “v4.2.0 is now live on all platforms” and “Halloween updates + UI improvements are here.”
