Play Solana brings Origins to web and Seeker, ending PSG1 exclusivity

Play Solana launched Origins on web and on Seeker, opening its first game to players who don’t own the company’s PSG1 handheld.

The title had been a console exclusive. Origins was unveiled as the first game for the PSG1 and was accessible to owners of the Player 1 NFT, a collection capped at 2,000 holders. Anyone with a browser can now load it at origins.playsolana.com.

“Going multi-platform means a bigger, more connected player pool from day one,” Play Solana said in a post on X announcing the launch.

What the hardware gate cost

The PSG1 shipped Oct. 6, 2025 at $329 for the Original Edition. It runs an octa-core ARM processor with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, a 3.92-inch OLED touchscreen at 1240×1080, and EchOS, a gaming-tuned Android build. A SvalGuard hardware wallet and fingerprint sensor are built in.

Play Solana also sold a Pudgy Penguins Edition at $349 that triggers an automatic $PENGU burn with each sale, plus versions customized for MonkeDAO, dogwifcoin, momo AI and $GIGA Chad.

Those units set the ceiling on how many people could reach Origins. The Player 1 collection sold out in about one minute and covered 2,000 wallets. Console sales added more, but the addressable pool stayed tied to units shipped.

The Seeker angle

Seeker gives Play Solana a much larger installed base than its own device. Solana Mobile began shipping the phone Aug. 5, 2025 across more than 50 countries and has said it shipped over 150,000 preorders. Each unit mints a non-transferable Genesis Token.

Distribution runs through the Solana dApp Store, which charges no platform fee. SKR, the Solana Mobile ecosystem token, launched Jan. 21, 2026 via airdrop to eligible users.

Play ID, the identity layer Play Solana uses to bind a player’s activity to a persistent onchain persona, already worked across PSG1 and browser, which made the port a shorter reach than a from-scratch build.

Token and ecosystem

$PLAY launched Oct. 13, 2025, a week after the console started shipping. Total supply is 5 billion, with 56% allocated to the community and 44% elsewhere. The airdrop to early supporters opened Nov. 14, 2025, the same day MEXC listed the token in its Innovation Zone with a PLAYSOLANA/USDT pair and a 75,000 USDT rewards event. Withdrawals opened the following day.

The token hit roughly $0.03 on its listing day. It bottomed near $0.0036 on Jan. 11, 2026.

Around Origins sits a stack of first-party pieces: PlayVERSE, the dApp store for PSG1; PlayDex, the quest and staking hub; PlayGate, which records console publishing receipts onchain for APK and AAB builds; and SvalGuard, which routes staking, swaps and liquidity through Jupiter inside a hardware-protected enclave.

Season 1 went live Nov. 28, 2025 with quests on PlayDex that convert XP into $PLAY. Some of those quests remain restricted to console and NFT holders.

Battles

Play Solana added player-versus-player combat to Origins before the multi-platform push. To find it, players update the game, walk to the brick DAO Building, go upstairs to Floor 2, and look for Player1 in the bottom-left corner.
