In Brief:
- OpenSea switched on Solana NFT trading Aug. 31, more than four years after shuttering an earlier beta that covered 165 collections.
- Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt and Phygitals are among the collections live at launch, with buying, selling and bidding all handled in the OS2 interface.
- Solana is the first non-EVM chain to get NFT support on OpenSea since the beta ended, and it lands as Magic Eden retreats to Solana and marketplace volumes sit far below their 2021 highs.
OpenSea opened Solana NFT trading on Aug. 31, closing a gap that had persisted since the marketplace killed its first Solana beta in 2022.
Users can search, buy, sell and bid on Solana collections directly in OS2. Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt and Phygitals were among the collections available at launch.
Solana NFTs are now live on OpenSea.

“One place for the NFTs you love,” OpenSea said in a post on X announcing the rollout.
First non-EVM chain since the beta
Solana is the first non-EVM network to get NFT trading on OpenSea since the earlier service ended. The rest of the roster is almost entirely EVM-compatible: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base, Monad, Sei and Berachain. OpenSea said the marketplace now spans more than 25 blockchains.
“OS2 was rebuilt from the ground up as multi-chain platform. We led with Solana token support, and NFTs are now being added. They’re particularly relevant now with the emergence of so many collectibles platforms utilizing Solana NFTs,” an OpenSea representative said.
The rollout came in stages. Solana returned to OpenSea in April 2025 through OS2, but only for fungible tokens, with the company saying at the time that NFTs would follow. OS2 exited beta in May 2025. SOL has been accepted as a payment option for NFTs on other chains since 2025.
Collections with games attached
Several of the launch collections carry gaming or collectibles businesses behind them. Claynosaurz, a set of 10,000 animated dinosaurs minted in November 2022, is being adapted into a mobile game with Gameloft. Collector Crypt and Phygitals are storefront-style collectible projects.
The timing puts OpenSea back on Solana just as Magic Eden moves the other way. Magic Eden closed its Bitcoin and EVM marketplaces earlier this year to redirect resources toward Solana. Tensor remains active there.
A thinner market than 2022
Monthly NFT marketplace volume ran into the billions in 2021 and 2022. It now sits in the hundreds of millions. Binance shut its centralized NFT service in June, and Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT and X2Y2 have all discontinued services in recent years.
OpenSea’s own numbers show the split between tokens and collectibles. The platform logged 467,322 monthly active addresses in May 2025 after the OS2 launch, up 44% from the prior month, but monthly trading volume stayed at $81 million.
The first Solana attempt went live April 6, 2022. It covered 165 collections and never gained much traction. Solana NFT volume was running at $173 million a month that March, and most of it went elsewhere.
What comes with the expansion
OpenSea is preparing a token launch alongside the multichain buildout. CEO Devin Finzer said the SEA token is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, with 50% of supply allocated to longtime users and rewards program participants and 50% of platform revenue at launch directed to buybacks. Holders will be able to stake SEA “behind [their] favorite tokens and collections,” Finzer said.
OpenSea has not disclosed total supply or how allocations will be calculated. It has also opened a mobile app to closed alpha testers and plans to ship it before the token generation event.
The rewards crates that preceded the token announcement were funded by a fee increase. OpenSea now charges 1% per NFT transaction and 0.85% per token transaction.
