Rayquaza gets the spotlight. The next Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Mega Evolution — Delta Reign, has been officially announced, and the Pokémon Company has put its most-requested dragon on several new cards, the Elite Trainer Box, card sleeves and booster packs.
Here’s what’s already locked down: a release date, a prerelease window, a handful of revealed cards and the product list.
Delta Reign lands November 6, 2026. It’s the next Mega Evolution set and the final expansion of the year, arriving after the Pitch Black set and the 30th Celebration cards that hit in mid-September.
Prerelease starts before Halloween
The set goes into prerelease October 24, 2026. That’s your window for the Build & Battle Boxes, and each one comes with one of four unique promo cards. Availability runs through local hobby stores, so call ahead rather than assuming.
Preorders have already surfaced on secondary auction sites, but you’ll pay a premium for the privilege. Wait if you can.
Where the real preorders will land
The official Pokémon Center online storefront should open preorders sometime in September, likely after the 30th Celebration cards release next week. Other major retailers, including Best Buy, have live listings up but no way to actually buy the Elite Trainer Box yet, and that can vary by location.
The regular Elite Trainer Box is priced at $49.99.
The cards we’ve seen so far
The official Pokémon website has revealed a batch of Delta Reign cards, including Mega Golurk ex. New Mega ex cards are in the mix, along with the “Legendary Summit” Trainer and Stadium combo.
Card numbering only runs up to 103 in what’s been shown, but the Pokémon Company has confirmed Delta Reign will comprise “over 135” cards. That includes 20 Trainer cards and more than 35 Pokémon and Trainers with special illustration artwork. Do the math and you land at 138 cards total.
What’s in the Elite Trainer Box
Delta Reign follows the standard expansion structure: booster boxes, Build & Battle boxes and the Elite Trainer Box. And as usual, the ETB is the one most people will chase.
It packs 8 booster packs, 65 card sleeves, dice, card dividers, Energy cards and a plastic coin.
The promo card this time is a full-art illustrated rare of Kyogre, with artwork showing the Legendary Gen 3 Pokémon surfing on a large, cascading wave.
Don’t wait until November
There’s a two-month runway here, which sounds like plenty of room. It isn’t, if 2026 is any guide. Most expansions this year have sold out fast on the initial drop.
Set your preorder notifications, watch for restocks, and keep an eye on the Pokémon Center storefront in September. Kyogre on that wave isn’t going to sit on a shelf waiting for you.
