“We’ll be sharing the Fortune’s Frontier official launch date, a sneak peek of our upcoming The Fallen King Expansion, updates on @RavenIdle and so much more!” the studio said in a post on X the morning of the stream.
One stream instead of several reveals
Tavernlight announced the date on X earlier in the month and called the event “the Biggest Livestream Showcase we’ve ever put together!”
The studio said it chose the format deliberately. “Instead of splitting everything we’ve been building into a bunch of separate reveals, we decided to bring it all” together, the announcement read.
The Sept. 19 slot fell on a Saturday. Tavernlight didn’t say how long the broadcast would run.
Fortune’s Frontier, six months after the reveal
Fortune’s Frontier is the headline item. Tavernlight first showed the mode in March, timed to RavenQuest’s one-year anniversary, and has not attached a release date to it since.
The mode is a seasonal, fast-entry PvPvE format. Every season begins fresh, and both new and returning players start with advanced-level characters, which removes the progression gap between veterans and newcomers.
It runs inside the same launcher and client as the main game. Players create a new character and pick the Frontier as their game mode.
The setting is an earlier, wilder period of RavenQuest’s history. The mode centers on the wreck of The Dawn of Fortune, a ship commissioned by a coalition of Lyderia’s wealthiest families to carry their treasure across the sea. In the lore, a storm sank it near the Pirate Isles and scattered the cargo across nearby islands.
Players work through three islands, Sajecho, Harbor and Gilead, each with a higher level of risk than the last. They fight creatures, clash with rival players and try to get off the islands with whatever they can carry.
Tavernlight has described the mode as a growth engine for the wider RavenQuest world and the $QUEST ecosystem. Each season carries a Reward Pool that pays out to top performers. Players who finish a season are meant to have a natural path into the persistent game and its deeper systems.
“Fortune’s Frontier is our answer to the ‘progression wall’ often found in MMOs,” said Nicolas Schrik, CEO of Tavernlight Games, at the March reveal. He said the seasonal, skill-based format gave the studio an entry point for new players while offering veterans “a high-stakes challenge where every decision matters.”
The Fallen King
The Fallen King is new. Tavernlight’s showcase announcement was the first public reference to the expansion, and the studio offered no details beyond calling it “upcoming” and promising a sneak peek.
It would follow Rise of Tyrants, the free expansion that shipped May 23 and added the Tyrant System, RavenQuest’s first dedicated endgame PvE group content built around coordinated five-player teams.
RavenIdle
The third item on the agenda is RavenIdle, the idle RPG Tavernlight set in the RavenQuest universe. It runs on web, mobile and Telegram, and has players send heroes on adventures, run dungeons, customize land and trade with neighbors.
Tavernlight announced RavenIdle’s Season 0 with a $70,000 prize pool that could grow to $570,000 in $QUEST, NFTs and Immutable Gems, with 100% of Battle Pass revenue going into the pool. Season 0 was originally slated for July 4 and was later pushed back, with an open beta planned for Sept. 10 ahead of the first season.
The studio hasn’t said what the RavenIdle update at the showcase would cover.
Background
RavenQuest launched globally on March 14, 2025 on Immutable. It’s the free-to-play successor to Ravendawn, Tavernlight’s earlier pixel-art MMORPG.
Tavernlight has also said it plans a third game by the end of the year.
As of the morning of Sept. 19, the studio’s message to players was two words long. “Be there,” it said.
