Corporate crypto strategies shift to Solana
Publicly traded companies are diversifying their treasury strategies by accumulating Solana (SOL) alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum. This trend reflects an evolving approach to digital asset investment, where firms are now venturing beyond traditional crypto assets.
Forward Industries leads the pack with a Solana treasury exceeding 7 million SOL, valued at approximately $486 million as of June. The company spent around $1.6 billion to acquire the bulk of its holdings, boosted by funding from major crypto investors like Galaxy Digital. Forward Industries aims to set itself apart through its on-chain participation and intent to raise an additional $4 billion for further SOL acquisitions.
Upexi follows with 2.36 million SOL in its treasury, a move that initially spiked its stock but has since seen considerable decline. The company raised $100 million to fuel SOL purchases, later adding another $200 million via equity offerings. Upexi’s current holdings are worth about $163 million, reflecting significant losses since inception.
DeFi Development Corporation, another prominent player, holds nearly 2.3 million SOL and has actively engaged with the Solana community by acquiring a validator firm. Its involvement includes expanding a $5 billion equity line of credit to support future asset purchases.
The Solana Company, previously Helius Technologies, has also emerged as a significant treasury player with over 2 million SOL. The firm raised $500 million to fund its SOL strategy but has seen a decline in treasury value to around $143 million.
Last on the list is SkyAI, which holds about 2 million SOL, worth approximately $138 million. The company originally planned a $400 million raise for a Solana treasury but has since shifted focus toward developing a broader finance platform.
Companies like Forward Industries and Upexi exemplify a growing corporate interest in Solana as a viable digital asset, and this trend signals potential longevity in crypto investments across traditional markets.
