Spotify bought billboard space in New York and Los Angeles, and what’s on it is GTA 6 artwork.
The streaming service’s official X account posted images of the newly installed boards earlier today, each one carrying the latest GTA 6 art that’s been circulating across the US.
The artists got there first
A day before any of this, Travis Scott teased a GTA 6 collab in a cryptic Instagram post. Then the rest followed. Future, Morgan Wallen, Keith Richards and others started posting new GTA 6 artworks on social media, hinting at potential collaborations with Rockstar Games.
None of that has been confirmed by Rockstar. The artists posted art. The hints are hints.
One day later, the billboards went up.
Netflix, then Spotify
Rockstar worked with Netflix on the GTA 6 Extended Look. Now the company has teamed up with Spotify for GTA 6’s marketing campaign, and the boards in New York and LA are built from the same artwork the musicians shared.
What nobody has said is what the partnership actually covers beyond advertising.
The theory fans have already talked themselves into
Plenty of them think the Spotify app could be integrated into GTA 6 itself. Drive your favorite car, listen to your own playlist. That’s fan theorizing, not an announced feature.
Some are already budgeting for it. “Tomorrow the guys announce a subscription just to listen to your playlist in GTA 6, and there’ll be people buying it (including me),” one fan commented.
Far-fetched? Sure. But the comment tells you where the temperature is.
What happens if the songs are real
If music artists release exclusive GTA 6 songs in the near future, Spotify will likely promote them on its platform as part of the Rockstar collaboration. That’s the obvious read, and it’s still a read. We’ll have to wait to find out what this partnership means for GTA fans.
Meanwhile, GTA 6's marketing deal has finally been approved by Miami Beach. Which means the next place you see this artwork won’t be a billboard at all. It’ll be printed on the beach chairs.
