The Mandalorian Is Back With a New Adventure, and This Time You Play Grogu

Grogu is finally playable. Not as a passenger, not as a mission objective you drag around the board, but as a character with his own abilities and his own story.

That’s the headline buried inside The Mandalorian: Adventures – Sworn to the Creed, the expansion coming this Fall to the strategy card and board game hybrid that Unexpected Games released back in 2024.

What the expansion actually adds

The new set is built around the third season of the Disney show, and it brings a fully-fledged cooperative campaign for one to four players.

Three new characters come with it. Grogu, The Armorer and one more, each arriving with their own abilities, story and powers.

“I can’t wait for folks to see what we have in store for them with the Sworn to the Creed expansion!” Game Designer Joshua Beppler said. “We got to explore some really fun playstyles for some of our favorite characters.”

There’s more than characters here. New game systems and missions arrive too, and both work with the base game and with the Clan of Two expansion.

One of those systems puts you in the cockpit. “With our new systems, you’ll have the opportunity to pilot the N-1 starfighter and attempt to outmaneuver new ‘High Alert’ enemies!”

When you can get your hands on it

The base game and The Mandalorian: Adventures – Clan of Two are on shelves now. Sworn to the Creed doesn’t fully launch until Fall 2026.

But it shows up earlier than that. The expansion debuts in Summer 2026 at UKGE, Gen Con and GAMA, so convention floors get first look.

How the show got here in the first place

The series first aired in 2019, set five years after the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Pedro Pascal plays the helmet-clad title character, a bounty hunter tasked with protecting a Force-sensitive child from the remnants of the Imperial Forces.

Grogu did the rest. The fanbase fell hard, and fast.

None of it would exist without a budget problem. When George Lucas worked out that a live-action Star Wars television series would cost too much, he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. That’s the moment The Mandalorian, and a pile of other Star Wars projects, started moving.

Three seasons and 24 episodes later, plus a feature film called The Mandalorian and Grogu, the show sits at the center of the franchise.

The premise has stayed narrow the whole way through, and that’s the trick of it. A lone Mandalorian named Din Djarin and a young Force-sensitive kid, drifting through the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from anything the New Republic can reach.
