In Brief:

  • Gunzilla Games’ October report on Off The Grid (official site) puts the 1.0 release window at Dec. 27 to Jan. 15. The studio’s May roadmap had pointed to October.
  • The report says three roadmap items weren’t delivered: Legendary Weapons, the mainnet migration and new biomes. Mainnet migration is now scheduled for the 1.0 launch.
  • Gunzilla reports D28 retention up 34.81%, Marketplace 2.0 purchases in GUN up 51% and a first Kestrel anti-cheat ban wave on Oct. 21.

Off The Grid's 1.0 release now has a window of Dec. 27 to Jan. 15, according to a progress report Gunzilla Games published at octoberreport.gunzillagames.com. The studio’s May roadmap had aimed to end Early Access in October 2026.

The report covers five months of updates and grades the roadmap item by item. It also confirms that the move from testnet to GUNZ mainnet won’t happen before launch.

“Five months of updates. One defining next chapter!” GUNZ said in a post on X announcing the report.

What slipped

Gunzilla lists three items as not delivered.

The mainnet migration has been rescheduled for the 1.0 launch. It will bring “new OTG community members to GUNZ Mainnet. Everything you own moves with you, including serial numbers, onto the chain where your items are truly yours to own and trade,” the report said.

Legendary Weapons are on hold. “A legendary is a promise that it stays rare and worth chasing. Our economy can’t keep that promise yet, so they wait in the vault until it can,” the report said.

And the map expansion with new biomes didn’t ship. The studio said it put that effort into polishing Teardrop instead and “shipped a whole new map, the shooting range, which we’ll keep growing.”

Two items are marked partially complete. Phase one of the OpenSea redesign is done, but the categorization overhaul has moved to November. The Summer League ran, but the full Ranked System Reload is planned for after 1.0.

The numbers Gunzilla reported

The report lists retention gains of 7.95% at D1, 20.74% at D7 and 34.81% at D28. Monthly playtime per player rose 17.72% and daily playtime per active player rose 9.83%, the studio said.

Average session length went from 41.2 to 45.3 minutes, an 11.1% increase. Extended sessions went from 75.7 to 84.1 minutes.

The July 8 update brought the biggest performance jump. Gunzilla said RTX 20-series cards saw up to three times the frame rate, with an RTX 2060 going from 42 to 164 FPS. It reported gains of 30% to 60% on RTX 30-series cards, 30% on RTX 40-series and newer, and up to double on M4 Macs.

Marketplace 2.0 launched with the Aug. 27 update. The report describes it as “a storefront you can wander through: browse and filter what’s on offer, with every item taking center stage in a large, detailed preview.” Gunzilla said the share of players selling rose 17%, the share buying rose 9%, trades per active player rose 7% and GUN spent on purchases rose 51%.

Anniversary week produced a record 26,200 marketplace trades, according to the report.

Kestrel and the first ban wave

The Oct. 9 update added Kestrel, Gunzilla’s AI anti-cheat. The studio said it learned from more than 15 billion segments of gameplay data.

“Kestrel doesn’t care about a player’s score; it watches how they move and aim,” the report said.

The first official ban wave hit Oct. 21. Macro and recoil scripts made up 55% of flagged violations, input remapping 27%, aim assistance 12% and exploits 6%. Penalties range from a seven-day quarantine to a permanent ban, depending on severity.

Five months of patches

The July update reworked weapons and added an attachment budget, reworked Cyberlimbs and a Stay As Squad option. Gunzilla said unique builds rose 2.8 times, average attachments per gun went from 1.6 to 2.5 and weekly loadout edits rose 30%. Randomly matched players stayed together 4.6 times as often.

“Every gun now has its own kick, its rhythm and a quirk you’d recognise with your eyes closed,” the report said.

Proximity chat arrived Aug. 4. The Aug. 27 update reworked movement and added redeployment tokens, a new combat HUD, unlimited view distance and the shooting range, along with the Bulwark pack and the Vanguard battle pass.

“Movement is now a resource to manage, comebacks are earned, mistakes get punished,” the report said.

A new tutorial and the Iron Canopy pack followed Oct. 1. Gunzilla said new players flew up to 40% more in their first real match. “Flying is what OTG is built around,” the report said.

The studio also listed 10 features it shipped beyond the roadmap, including smarter NPCs, scope glint, new sky and lighting, bulk HEX decode and a post-match progress screen.

What’s listed for 1.0

Besides the mainnet migration, Gunzilla’s 1.0 list includes a full loadout system redesign, more weapon cosmetic customization, a cross-platform achievement system and a dynamic Teardrop island. PvE gets Goblin 2.0, new vaults and reworked turrets and NPCs.

“After two years in Early Access, Off The Grid already played like no other shooter,” the report said.
