In Brief:

  • Off The Grid (official site) posted the complete six-piece Veteran’s Crest set on Oct. 14, the final day for players to log in and collect it.
  • Gunzilla Games tied the set to the game’s two-year anniversary and rewarded players who claimed every piece with a confetti effect.
  • A day later, the official GUNZ account said Veteran’s Crest items were already trading on OpenSea.

Off The Grid showed the full Veteran’s Crest set on Oct. 14. It was the last day players could log in and claim it.

“THE FULL SET” the game’s official account wrote. “Six days, six pieces, and a trail of confetti for everyone who never missed one. This is what two years looks like.”

The post ended with a plain reminder: “Last day to log in.”

Secondary trading starts

The items didn’t stay with the players who claimed them for long. On Oct. 15 the official GUNZ account quoted the anniversary post and said, “Veteran’s Crest is already changing hands on @OpenSea.”

Neither account gave sales volume, floor prices or the number of players who finished the set.

How the drop worked

The set went out one piece per day over six days. Players who logged in on all six days got the full set and the confetti trail the studio described. Anyone who missed a day didn’t.

Gunzilla hasn’t published claim totals. The studio also hasn’t said whether it plans to run a similar event later.

Login streaks are a familiar retention tool in live-service shooters. But on GUNZ, the reward doesn’t stay locked to the account. Players can list it on the open market as soon as they have it, and the GUNZ post shows some already have.

Two years in early access

The anniversary marks two years since Off The Grid entered early access on Oct. 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Gunzilla Games, which is based in Germany, develops and publishes the game.

The game’s X profile still promotes it as early access on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Off The Grid is a free-to-play battle royale, set on Teardrop Island. Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp directs the story and author Richard K. Morgan is a writer on the project.

The GUNZ layer

Weapon skins, outfits and other items in Off The Grid can be turned into tradable assets on GUNZ, the chain Gunzilla built for the game. The studio has said that layer is optional. Players can ignore the marketplace and play the shooter on its own.

Usually items reach players through HEX loot boxes found in matches. Players have to survive and extract with a HEX before they can convert what’s inside. The Veteran’s Crest pieces skipped that step. All players had to do was keep the streak alive for six days.

On Oct. 14 the studio’s message to anyone still one piece short was the same as the closing line of its post: “Last day to log in.”
