Beerus looks exactly as good as fans hoped. That’s the short version.

The longer version: the remake of the Dragon Ball Super anime, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, finally has a date. It debuts on Fuji TV on Oct. 11. Fans in the US get there first, with a world-premiere screening of the first episode on Oct. 8 at New York Comic Con 2026 during the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus special panel.

The trailer answers the question fans actually cared about

A new “super surge trailer” landed alongside the announcement, and it’s the first extensive look at what this remake is going to be. Toei Animation delivered the visual quality everyone expected. It also quietly settled the thing people have been arguing about for months: how much story this thing covers.

Dragon Ball Super canon is messy, and that’s not a complaint so much as a fact of life. Three sources sit on top of each other, the movies, the anime and the manga, and while the story lines up more or less across all three, the small differences are the ones fans notice. Until now it wasn’t clear where the remake would draw its borders.

Based on the footage, Beerus will cover the God of Destruction Beerus arc, the Resurrection ‘F’ arc and the God of Destruction Champa arc. (Arc names shift between manga and anime, so your mileage may vary on labels.) In practical terms that’s the first two Dragon Ball Super movies, Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’, plus the first 46 episodes of the anime. Minus fillers, hopefully.

One transformation that changes the math

Here’s the detail people latched onto. In the trailer’s Goku versus Frieza footage, Goku uses his Super Saiyan God form before going Super Saiyan Blue. That step wasn’t in the Resurrection ‘F’ movie.

Small? Sure. But Dragon Ball fans live and die for exactly this kind of thing, and it’s the reason expectations around the remake just climbed another notch.

The trailer also confirmed the music: “Onogami” by Megatera-Zero on the opening, “Kan Peki No Peki” by VK Blanka on the ending. Losing “Chosetsu Dynamic!” stings, no way around it. But the new tracks from these young Japanese artists carry the same charge, and they give the whole thing a fresh vibe rather than a nostalgia rerun.

The Fuji TV scheduling wrinkle

Beerus is slotted into the same Fuji TV time slot as One Piece. That’s worth sitting with for a second.

The anime based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga recently moved to a seasonal release schedule, with 26 episodes airing every year. Which raises a real possibility: the two could alternate on Fuji TV. That would be a meaningful break from the old model, when both ran as ongoing weekly productions.

Who’s on the NYCC panel, and what happens after

The Oct. 8 panel at New York Comic Con 2026 will be hosted by Jason Douglas, the English dub voice of Beerus, Ian Sinclair, the English dub voice of Whis, and Monica Rial, the English dub voice of Bulma. After the Japanese debut on Oct. 11, the anime will very likely start airing on Crunchyroll as well.

What comes next is the open question. The Galactic Patrol arc, also known as the Moro arc, is in the works. Whether it follows Beerus directly is anyone’s guess right now.

For the moment, there’s a date, a trailer and a Super Saiyan God transformation that wasn’t in the movie. That’s plenty to chew on.
