In Brief:
- EVE Frontier is running a Dermestid hunt from 4-11 August, with new KEEP missions paying Grace.
- If the community destroys 20 Dermestids, every participant receives 1,000 Grace.
- Dermestids are the hatched form of the Allotrope Clade drones added in Cycle 6: Sanctuary on 25 June.
EVE Frontier opened a week-long Dermestid hunt running 4-11 August, tying a flat 1,000 Grace payout to a single server-wide kill count.
The number is 20. Destroy 20 Dermestids as a community and every participant gets the 1,000 Grace, according to the game’s account on X.
The Hunt is On
Dermestids have appeared on the Frontier.
From 4-11 August, fleet up, complete new KEEP missions for Grace rewards, and help the community destroy 20 Dermestids to unlock 1,000 Grace for every participant.

Individual play pays separately. The studio added new KEEP missions for the week, each carrying its own Grace reward, so a rider who never lands a killing blow on a Dermestid can still bank progress.
“The Hunt is On,” the account posted. “Dermestids have appeared on the Frontier.”
Spawning isn’t static. Dermestids will begin emerging near active players, which puts the encounters where the population already is rather than parking them in a fixed pocket of space.
What a Dermestid is
The Dermestid arrived with Cycle 6: Sanctuary, which launched 25 June, as half of a two-stage feral drone called the Allotrope Clade.
The first stage is the Mycena. It scavenges materials and builds a stationary Chrysalis, which is vulnerable while it sits there consuming resources. Leave it alone and it hatches into the Dermestid, a ranged combatant the studio classes as highly dangerous.
That’s the trade. Kill the Chrysalis early and the fight is easy and the loot is worse. Let it hatch and the loot can be rarer, assuming the thing that comes out doesn’t kill you first.
Why Grace matters
Grace is the development-phase progression currency, earned inside a Cycle and converted into EVE Points when that Cycle ends. Players track it through the KEEP Monitor, the mission hub sitting inside the Terminal alongside the Broadcast Terminal.
It doesn’t survive to launch. Grace is a Founder Access construct, which is why a 1,000 Grace community payout lands as a real incentive during testing and would mean nothing after it.
Where the hunt sits in Cycle 6
Sanctuary was announced 15 May and shipped 25 June with a full server reset, wiping progress for new and returning players alike. It came with a five-day free trial for new players and for account holders without Founder Access.
The cycle rebuilt ships as modular assemblies. Players start with the Seed of a vessel and expand it by acquiring, evolving and integrating modules. Everyone spawns and respawns in a starting zone called the Creche until they build a Refuge.
Dormant Gates were seeded across starter systems. Repair, reenergize and reactivate one and it opens routes into new star systems.
The economy loop runs through LUX, which players exchange for a test version of $EVE to buy Mining Lenses. Those extract Crude Matter from rifts, which refines into Fuel for ships, bases and infrastructure.
Difficulty went up across the board. Extreme temperature shifts force riders to manage their ship’s exposure, and hostile AI got more reactive, with Ferals fighting over resources and responding to player actions.
The patch cadence around it
Patch 0.6.4.0 landed 22 July with the Stuttergun weapon class, a Thrust Overdrive module, an overhauled Needle laser and defect fixes. Patch 0.6.5.0 followed with the Transponder and Fuel Blister modules.
A mid-season update is planned for 18 August under the banner “better tools in a bigger toolbox,” adding more character shell modules focused on survival plus gravity hazards from black holes and rifts.
The Dermestid isn’t the only drone that got harder to fight this cycle. Conservators had their health and shields lowered in the same update and their damage boosted, which made those encounters faster and more lethal.
