About Grand Arena

What is Grand Arena?

Grand Arena is a collectible card and fantasy-battler game built on the Ronin blockchain by web3 studio Moku. Instead of drafting human athletes, players field AI agents — beginning with Moku's 8,888 Moki NFTs, originally distributed through a no-loss RON raffle and repurposed as the game's digital athletes. Mokis compete automatically and continuously rather than on a fixed real-world sports schedule, producing live statistics and leaderboard movement around the clock. Moku raised $5.35 million in late 2024 from backers including Sky Mavis, a16z Games Speedrun and Framework Ventures.

How to play Grand Arena

The game is split into two connected experiences. Moki Manager is the training layer, where players raise AI characters across five core stats: Strength, Defense, Speed, Fortitude and Dexterity. Training is free and has no cooldowns between sessions; Gems, the in-game currency, can buy Snacks that shorten training time or make stat gains more consistent. Moki Mayhem is the auto-battler where trained Mokis fight in team-based matches without direct player input, so preparation rather than in-match reaction determines results. Contests are entered by submitting a five-card lineup built from Moki cards and Scheme cards, in either free or Gem-paid formats. Owning a Moki NFT is not required to play; holders receive bonuses such as extra mXP and performance royalties.

Grand Arena tokenomics & earning

Grand Arena does not have its own fungible token. Progression is tracked in Moku XP (mXP), earned through contests, card collecting and Moki training, and mXP totals determine placement on seasonal leaderboards divided into Champion and Non-Champion tracks. Season One began on 20 February 2026 with a starting prize pool of $1,000,000 and ran twelve weeks to mid-May, with the pool designed to scale alongside ecosystem activity. The top 100 Mokis become official Champion cards, and their holders earn royalties when those cards are unpacked or traded. Initial card supply came largely from an October 2025 Booster Box raffle of 8,887 boxes, with tickets priced at 100 RON and each box containing 30 packs of five cards.

Our verdict

Grand Arena is Moku's card-based fantasy battler on Ronin, and the twist is what you actually collect: not human athletes but AI agents, seeded from the studio's 8,888 Moki NFTs. The loop runs across two halves. Moki Manager is the training layer, where five stats — Strength, Defense, Speed, Fortitude and Dexterity — are raised through sessions that are free and have no cooldowns, with Gems buying Snacks that shorten training or steady the gains. Moki Mayhem is where trained Mokis fight, auto-battler style, from a submitted five-card lineup of Moki and Scheme cards.

What works is the openness and the pacing. You do not need to own a Moki NFT to play, there is no fungible token layered over the economy, and matches run continuously rather than tracking a real-world sports calendar, so leaderboards move at any hour. Progression is measured purely in Moku XP across Champion and Non-Champion tracks.

What does not work is the same thing that makes it approachable: outcomes are decided before the match, so anyone wanting in-the-moment tactical input will find nothing to do once a lineup is locked. Rewards also concentrate sharply — the top 100 Mokis become Champion cards whose holders collect trading royalties, which favours early and heavily invested collectors. It suits players who enjoy stat optimisation and long-horizon roster building over live play.

This is our own editorial assessment. We do not score games — ratings come from players.

Grand Arena pros and cons

What we like

5 pros
  • AI-driven Moki NFT agents battle automatically, so lineups score without constant manual play
  • Fantasy-battler format built around collecting cards and building lineups
  • Scoring tied to real-time match performance keeps sessions dynamic
  • Runs on Ronin, a chain established for game communities
  • Builds on Moku's existing Moki NFT collection rather than starting from zero

What to watch

5 cons
  • Collectible-driven design means competitiveness likely depends on acquiring the right NFTs
  • Automated AI battles leave players little direct control over match outcomes
  • Only listed on a single blockchain (Ronin), limiting access for players elsewhere
  • Public details are thin — no stated info on modes, costs, or rewards
  • Value is tied to the Moki NFT ecosystem, so newcomers may face an entry barrier

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start playing Grand Arena?
Connect a Ronin wallet to the Grand Arena site, then acquire Moki cards by opening packs from the in-game shop or buying singles on Ronin Market. You then submit a five-card lineup — four Champion Moki cards plus one Scheme card — into a free or paid daily fantasy contest and score points based on how your AI-controlled Mokis perform in automated matches.
How do players earn in Grand Arena?
Season 1 offered a guaranteed $1M prize pool, paid out in proportion to each player's share of total qualified mXP (Moku XP), which is accumulated by collecting cards, training Mokis, entering contests, and creating content. Players can also win contest payouts directly, and Moki NFT holders earn royalties when their Moki's Champion card is unpacked or traded.
Does Grand Arena have its own token?
Grand Arena does not have a tradable game token; it uses Gems as the in-game currency for packs and contest entry fees, and mXP as a non-transferable seasonal progression score that resets between seasons. Prizes have been paid in RON, and the game also integrated bRON, a spend-only app token used inside Grand Arena.
Do I need a wallet or a Moki NFT to play?
Gameplay is wallet-connected, so a Ronin wallet is required. A Moki NFT is not required to play Grand Arena, but holders receive in-game benefits such as extra mXP, boosted rewards, and royalties from their Moki's performance.
Is Grand Arena still active, and is it worth playing?
Season 1 ran as a roughly twelve-week competition in early 2026 and concluded in mid-May, and Moku has listed Season 2 as coming soon without a confirmed start date, while Moki training and other Grand Arena modes remain accessible. It suits players who prefer short, low-commitment sessions, since battles resolve automatically, contest entry fees have ranged from about $1 to $5, and free contests are available.
