What is Ragnarok Landverse?
Ragnarok Landverse is an MMORPG built on the classic Ragnarok Online PC games, published by Maxion under a partnership with Gravity Co., Ltd. It keeps the familiar Ragnarok world and adds competitive Guild vs Guild play and a crypto and NFT economy. Players can sign in with a Ronin wallet, a Google account or a Landverse account. The Americas edition, Ragnarok Landverse America, has its own site at rola.maxion.gg and runs on PC.
How to play
Players download the PC client, create a character and progress through the world, using the official guide's world map, monster database and item database for help. The game includes an automated battle system. Content arrives in episodes. Episode 11.1, the Sacred Precinct of Goddess Rachel, was released in October 2026 together with a card collection update, a new NOVA Battleground season and Battle Pass season 10, Eclipse. Seasonal tournament servers ask players to prepare a character in Izlude, take part in matches and turn in Landverse Emblems for points.
Economy and marketplace
The game has a player-driven economy that rewards progress in the game. Items can be traded with other players on the Maxion marketplace, which uses blockchain-based peer-to-peer features so prices follow supply and demand. ION is the currency players recharge through top-ups, and Moonstone is used in the premium item shop. Maxion posts patch notes and events on its official news portal, with gameplay updates published as recently as October 8, 2026.
Our verdict
Ragnarok Landverse is less a new fantasy world than a licensed Web3 re-skin of Ragnarok Online, the Korean MMORPG Gravity has run since 2002. The blockchain layer comes from Maxion under the Zentry umbrella, and the current Ronin build — Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis — held its grand launch in March 2025 after an earlier soft launch on a different chain. It is free to play on PC and mobile.
What works is the foundation. Two decades of class design, party grinding and card-drop loot arrive largely intact, and the sprite art still reads clearly on a small screen. Ronin keeps transaction friction low, and the tokens and land NFTs sit alongside the game rather than gating entry.
What does not work is the "Landverse" part, which is thinner than the name suggests. Genesis Land was a 1,000-piece mint whose function is buffs and upgrade crafting through an in-game merchant NPC — an ownership layer bolted onto an economy that still runs mostly on mining, stamina timers and shop items. Scarcity, not land, is doing the work.
It suits lapsed Ragnarok players who want the old grind with a cash-out valve, and Ronin regulars used to seasonal economies. Anyone expecting a modern MMORPG built from scratch will not find one here.
