AFK Heroes (official site), the free-to-play idle RPG on Solana, has added a new game mode called The Horde Trial. It went live on October 25, 2026, and runs until November 15. The event has two modes and two leaderboards, with more than 2,000,000 AFKHERO in prize pools. When it ends, the top 3 players on each board share that board’s pool.
You can join from the Horde Trial section on the official AFK Heroes website. Every player gets one free run per day in each mode, so you can compete on both leaderboards without spending anything.
The Long Night
The first mode is The Long Night, an endless survival challenge. You survive the horde for as long as you can. Every class starts at the same strength, however far you’ve progressed in the main game.
With everyone on equal footing, gear doesn’t matter here. Skill and decision making do, and new players and veterans compete under the same conditions.
The Trial Ladder
The Trial Ladder works the other way around. You bring your own hero and gear into a series of 23 Trials, and each Trial ends with a Warden fight. How high you climb depends on how far you can push your build.
This mode rewards the time you’ve already put into AFK Heroes. Stronger heroes and better equipment give you an edge, which makes the ladder a test of how well you’ve built your character.
Daily quest and rewards
The Horde Trial also adds a new daily quest. Last at least 2 minutes in your free Long Night run and you can claim 250,000 gold. A new quest unlocks with each new free run.
When the event closes on November 15, winners get their AFKHERO rewards straight into their in-game balance. They also get a notification showing their final rank on The Long Night or the Trial Ladder.
A busy October for AFK Heroes
The Horde Trial follows several other updates this month. Earlier in October the game added mining. One switch takes a hero out of combat and into the mine, which has three zones of 91 hexes each. On October 15, AFK Heroes replaced its turn-based PvP with real-time 1v1 duels in which you control your hero directly.
Season 4 started on October 16 with 100 million AFKHERO in total rewards, the biggest reward season in the game’s history. The rewards were split into a 60 million AFKHERO reward pool, 20 million for staking and 20 million for prizes.
The game also arrived on the Solana dApp Store this month. Seeker phone owners can claim a one-time welcome pack with a Mythic gear set, 50 Grand Jug potions, three-hour XP and drop boosts and a Seeker name tag.
About the game
AFK Heroes has a voxel art style and runs in the browser, with nothing to download. You connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom or Solflare, choose a knight, mage or rogue and send your hero into battle. A demo mode lets newcomers try it without a wallet.
Combat is automatic, so heroes keep fighting monsters, collecting loot and earning AFKHERO while you’re away. Heroes level up and find gear across nine zones, from Frozen Spire at level 40 up to Singularity Vault at level 90 and above. Bosses such as The Idle Warden can be summoned with Boss Keys.
Since launching in June 2026, the game has added guilds, crafting, tournaments, PvP and zone bosses. Guild members can earn up to 25% extra AFKHERO, plus 100% more XP and gold. A player marketplace lets you trade items, and earned AFKHERO can be withdrawn to your own wallet. Optional starter packs offer gear, gold and potions, but you don’t need them to play.
The AFKHERO token
AFKHERO has a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens and traded at about 0.000201 USD when The Horde Trial was announced. The team valued the Season 4 rewards at about 18,100 USD at launch. In September, the game’s staking vault hit its cap with 250 million AFKHERO locked, or 25% of the total supply. In its 90-day recap, the team reported that players had earned 518.7 million AFKHERO, worth about 74,300 USD at the time.
