In Brief:
- DeFi Kingdoms (official site) will sunset DFK Chain on Aug. 28, 2026 and move the game to Avalanche’s C-Chain.
- Only DFK-native assets are covered by the migration. JEWEL, BTC, ETH, AVAX, USDC and every other bridged token has to be moved off by the holder or it’s gone permanently.
- The team said the project isn’t ending, and plans to release an SDK for outside developers building on DFK’s systems and game mechanics.
DeFi Kingdoms will retire DFK Chain on Aug. 28, 2026, and any bridged token still sitting on the network that day will be unrecoverable.
“After careful consideration, DFKChain will officially sunset on August 28th, 2026,” the team said in a July 31 post on X headed “DFK Chain Sunset & The Road Ahead.” The decision followed months of evaluating the project’s long-term infrastructure alongside the Avalanche team, DeFi Kingdoms said.
Players should visit DFK Chain as soon as possible to bridge non-native tokens out to their chain of choice.

That leaves players roughly three weeks.
What the migration does not cover
DeFi Kingdoms-native assets are the only things included in the migration process. Everything else is the holder’s problem.
JEWEL, BTC, ETH, AVAX, USDC and other bridged tokens have to be moved off DFK Chain by players themselves, and the team said those balances cannot be recreated or recovered once the chain is retired. The game’s own site carries the same warning: non-DFK assets must be bridged out before the date or they will be permanently lost.
JEWEL can already be bridged to Avalanche C-Chain. DeFi Kingdoms told players not to leave it to the final days.
“Players should visit DFK Chain as soon as possible to bridge non-native tokens out to their chain of choice,” the project said.
Two steps before bridging
Anyone using a smart wallet needs to move assets into a standard wallet first, according to the team’s pre-shutdown instructions.
Liquidity providers have more to do. DeFi Kingdoms said all LP positions should be broken, including pools made up entirely of DFK-native assets.
Holders of DFK-native assets are being told to wait. The team said further technical guidance on migrating those will be published before the deadline.
The game moves to C-Chain
The chain is closing but the game isn’t. DeFi Kingdoms said it plans to keep operating through a migration to Avalanche C-Chain, with more details in the coming weeks, and that work with the Avalanche team continues to get the transition done securely.
“We’re looking forward to the next phase of DFK on @avax c-chain in the not too distant future and hope you’ll join us for it,” the project said.
The team also said the shutdown doesn’t mean the project itself is ending. It plans to ship an SDK so external developers can build services that use DFK’s systems and game mechanics, and said it’s still working through longer-term development plans. No launch dates were attached to either.
Background
DFK Chain arrived with the Crystalvale expansion, built with Avalanche’s Subnet technology. It processed gameplay transactions in Crystalvale, hosted the Crystalvale DEX and used JEWEL for gas, which kept players from needing an outside token to pay fees.
Other DeFi Kingdoms realms sit elsewhere and aren’t part of this shutdown. Serendale relaunched on Kaia, and the PvP Colosseum runs on Metis.
DFK Chain went live on March 30, 2022, as the first subnet on Avalanche.
