MapleStory Universe (official site) revenue exceeds gameplay rewards
Nexpace released the H1 2026 report detailing impressive traction for MapleStory Universe, revealing protocol revenue outpacing gameplay rewards. Total revenue reached 31 million NXPC tokens, valued at approximately $9.9 million, compared to 28 million NXPC in gameplay rewards. The revenue exceeded rewards by around 10%, and both quarters reflected positive balances.
Gameplay rewards are distributed in the in-game NESO currency, with 100,000 NESO equating to one NXPC. Therefore, the emission figures do not represent direct NXPC payments.
Nexpace reported first-quarter revenue of 14.4 million NXPC, while gameplay rewards totaled 13.2 million NXPC, resulting in a surplus of 1.2 million NXPC. The second quarter saw revenue rise to about 16.6 million NXPC versus rewards of 14.9 million NXPC, leading to a surplus of 1.7 million NXPC. Revenue grew 15.4% quarter-over-quarter, compared to 13.0% growth in rewards, leading to a 42% increase in surplus.
Content generated nearly all protocol revenue, accounting for 94.8% at 29,373,367 NXPC. Marketplace fees contributed 5.2%, but the primary surplus derived from content alone.
Nexpace executed two token burns during the first half, totaling 6,202,010 NXPC, valued at around $2 million. The burns occurred on May 21 and July 16, with the former removing 2,876,483 NXPC and the latter 3,325,525 NXPC.
Marketplace transactions reached about 32.1 million NXPC in gross value across 2,740,235 transactions during this period, equivalent to approximately $10.2 million. This resulted in an average transaction value of 11.71 NXPC, roughly $3.74.
By June 30, participation in MapleStory Universe reached 855,506 engaged wallets, with 564,714 identified as paying wallets. This means 66% of engaged wallets generated positive protocol fees through content or marketplace activity.
Nexpace’s report highlights stronger quarterly revenue and a widening surplus, underscoring active marketplace engagement, which the company aims to amplify through community initiatives like ongoing hackathons.
