LAND and Estate sizes
LAND and Estate sizes in tiles, metres and blocks, with a planner.

How big a Sandbox LAND and the standard Estates are, in tiles, metres and blocks, plus a planner for any rectangle of LANDs. Sizes and rules come from the official Sandbox docs (Estates and Scale pages, read 30 Oct 2026); the planner is arithmetic on a 96 x 96 x 128 block LAND.
The standard sizes
| Name | Size | LAND tiles | Ground (metres = blocks) |
|---|---|---|---|
| LAND | 1 x 1 | 1 | 96 x 96 |
| Estate, Small | 3 x 3 | 9 | 288 x 288 |
| Estate, Medium | 6 x 6 | 36 | 576 x 576 |
| Estate, Large | 12 x 12 | 144 | 1,152 x 1,152 |
| Estate, X-Large | 24 x 24 | 576 | 2,304 x 2,304 |
One LAND is 96 x 96 x 128 blocks. One block equals one cubic metre and is 32 x 32 x 32 voxels, so one LAND is 3,072 voxels wide and 4,096 voxels tall. Source: Sandbox docs, Scale page (read 30 Oct 2026). Estate names and sizes: Sandbox docs, Estates page.
Plan a rectangle
Estates are squares, but a group of adjacent 1x1 LANDs can be any shape you own. Type a width and a height in LAND tiles.

Rules that affect what you buy
- An Estate can be bought already assembled, or formed by combining 1x1 LANDs that are next to each other. An Estate can also be split into smaller sizes or into 1x1 LANDs.
- Publishing an Experience larger than 1x1 currently needs an Estate. Experiences must sit on your LANDs in the same orientation they were made in Game Maker.
- The docs recommend 2x2 as the largest Experience size for the best performance. A bigger Estate gives space and neighbours, not automatically a better game.
- Experience size is locked once created, so plan the LAND use before you start.

How we calculate
ground = tiles wide x 96 m by tiles tall x 96 m, 128 m high
volume = tiles x 96 x 96 x 128 blocks; one block = 1 cubic metre = 32 x 32 x 32 voxelsThe planner treats a rectangle as any group of adjacent 1x1 LANDs you own. Only squares of 3, 6, 12 and 24 tiles are named Estates in the docs.

The docs give 96 x 96 x 128 blocks. One block is one cubic metre and 32 x 32 x 32 voxels.
What are the Estate sizes?
Small 3x3 (9 LANDs), Medium 6x6 (36), Large 12x12 (144) and X-Large 24x24 (576), according to the Sandbox docs.
Can I split or combine Estates?
Yes. The docs say an Estate can be formed by combining adjacent 1x1 LANDs and can be split into smaller sizes or into 1x1 LANDs.
Do I need an Estate to publish an Experience?
