XOCIETY halts live service and web3 operations as developer NDUS weighs acquisition

XOCIETY is pausing its live service, game access, and web3 operations, the team said in a post on Medium, citing an unsustainable structure and broader strain across crypto gaming.

Developer NDUS Interactive is in discussions over a potential acquisition and other strategic options, Ryan “NDUS” Chown, global community manager, said in the post. No outcome has been confirmed.

“After extensive consideration, we have made the decision to pause current operations while we evaluate possible next steps for the project,” Chown said.

NFTs and token

All NFTs in the ecosystem remain unchanged. Holders with NFTs locked in staking contracts can unstake and claim them, and manage them freely, Chown said.

$XO will continue to exist, but work on exchange listings and wider ecosystem integrations is paused during the review.

Reason for the pause

“This decision reflects the current reality of the project. Despite exploring multiple options, the existing structure has not proven sustainable under current market conditions, and challenges across the Web3 gaming space have made continuation in its current form difficult,” Chown said.

The team is reviewing paths forward but has not settled on a direction. “The future of XOCIETY will depend in part on the outcome of ongoing discussions with external parties, including potential acquisition or strategic options involving NDUS Interactive, the development team,” Chown said.

NDUS restructuring

In parallel, NDUS is shifting its focus toward financial sustainability and restructuring operations. If the studio identifies a viable path, future work tied to the XOCIETY IP could take forms including alternative uses of the IP, smaller or more focused game formats, different platforms and adjusted $XO use cases.

“At this stage, these are considerations rather than confirmed plans,” Chown said.
