Regenesis Labs has been pushing the game for weeks. On Oct. 9 the account asked followers whether they’d played Pumpkin Ball yet and linked to a Decentraland world.

How the game works

Pumpkin Ball is a multiplayer dodgeball game. Its tagline in the project’s public code repository reads “parry the pumpkin or be eliminated.”

A glowing jack-o’-lantern homes in on one player at a time, and a spinning ring marks the target. That player has to swing at the right moment to parry the pumpkin onto someone else. On desktop the swing is the E key or a click. Phone players tap.

Each player has three HP. Touching the lava moat around the arena is an instant elimination. The last player standing wins.

Matches start from a queue on the lobby balcony. Once at least two players are ready, a 10-second countdown runs, then everyone is teleported to the arena for a “3-2-1” start.

It gets harder from there. About 20 seconds in, the Vampire enters and adds hazards that escalate as the round goes on: floor circles, green orbs, explosive pumpkins and fire rings with rotating gaps.

A lobby leaderboard tracks the most match wins. Players can also practice swings on pumpkin dummies before they queue.

Solo mode and server design

Outside the multiplayer arena, players can talk to the Vampire in the lobby to start a private five-level solo adventure. The bosses run from the Pumpkin Lord tutorial through the Scarecrow, Skelly, a two-boss Wizzir & Witch stage and finally the Vampire Master, who has a second phase.

Players get three hearts per level in solo runs, and their progress saves on the server.

The game is built on Decentraland's SDK7 in TypeScript and uses an authoritative multiplayer server. The server decides target selection, parry timing, hits, eliminations and hazard hits. Clients only send inputs, which the project’s documentation says makes cheating harder.

Halloweeks and the wearable contest

Decentraland announced Halloweeks 2026 on its blog on Oct. 5 under the title “Halloweeks 2026: One Night of Halloween Was Never Going to Be Enough.” The season runs through Nov. 2.

The program includes a haunted Genesis Plaza, Halloween quests, horror movie nights, community parties and limited-time rewards.

It also has a wearable design contest with a 30,000 MANA prize pool. That’s split into six themed categories at 5,000 MANA each.

The Decentraland Foundation is temporarily covering most of the publishing fee during the contest, so creators pay $5 to publish wearables. Submissions opened Oct. 6 and closed Oct. 23 at 12:00 UTC. Winners are due to be announced Oct. 27, ahead of a DJ set by Severus7, with prizes sent Oct. 28 to the wallet registered in the Shop.

Regenesis Labs’ recent output

Regenesis Labs calls itself the execution arm of the Decentraland DAO. It builds open-source tools and creator-focused tech, and it also builds the Decentraland Mobile App.

On Oct. 5 the account promoted Halloween content on mobile with the line “Spooky season, now in your pocket🎃📱”. On Oct. 7 it hosted a community meetup at 7 p.m. UTC.

On Oct. 21 the group said all six projects backed in Season 1 of its Regenesis Grants Program had shipped and were playable in Decentraland. The grants totaled $26,250 in MANA, and the code for all six projects is open source.

AI agents scored grant proposals on criteria that included technical feasibility, creativity and marketing potential. The final decisions were made by the Regenesis Labs team.

The Pumpkin Ball code is public on GitHub under the dcl-regenesislabs organization. Its one-line description reads: “Pumpkin dodgeball. Parry the pumpkin or be eliminated.”
