My Lovely Planet moves its Web3 features into a separate portal with build 3.3.0

My Lovely Planet’s Web3 features now sit in their own environment. The studio pulled the game offline at 2 p.m. CET for maintenance, then confirmed hours later that the work was done and the portal was running on build 3.3.0.

“MAINTENANCE COMPLETE OUR NEW WEB3 PORTAL IS LIVE!” the studio said in a post on X.

It had flagged the downtime the same day. “The game won’t be available during this operation (1-2h expected),” the studio said, adding: “This new release will give you access to our new Web3 environment!”

The expected window was one to two hours.

The plan came from a founder video

The split wasn’t a surprise to anyone following the account. “Following Clément’s recent video, where he explained that we were moving all our Web3 features to a dedicated environment, we’re happy to announce that it is now officially LIVE!” the studio said.

Le Bras founded the project in 2021. He previously ran Lilo.org, a search engine that funded social and environmental projects, which reached roughly 6 million monthly active users and 10 million euros in revenue. He’s a Mines de Paris graduate and spent a year in Madagascar before turning to climate work full time.

What the portal covers

MLC is an ERC-20 utility token on Polygon. Players spend it on seeds, tickets, bonuses, skins and NFTs, and holders vote on which NGOs receive money from the project’s Environmental Treasury. The Lovely Protectors NFT line gives holders exclusive items and additional MLC.

The studio hasn’t published a breakdown of which of those pieces moved across, or what changed for players who already hold MLC.

Build 3.3.0 follows 3.2.0 in late June, 3.1.0 on June 9 and 2.9.1 on April 9. Earlier releases were mostly content drops: 2.2.0 in April 2025 added a Win Streak feature, two new scenes and 200 levels, and 2.1.0 introduced the Diamonds currency and a referral system.

Background

My Lovely Planet is a match-3 puzzle game. Every 100 levels players complete funds one real tree, and the studio says more than 380,000 have been planted through NGO partners including Graine de Vie in Madagascar. The stated target is 100 million players and 1 billion trees.

The project went through the Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Lab at Station F and raised 2 million euros. Google selected it for the global #WeArePlay campaign in July 2025, the first Web3 game to make that list, and it was later named among the Play Store’s top apps of 2025.

The economics behind the token are unusually blunt. The studio puts 85% of in-app purchase revenue and 5% of advertising revenue into buying MLC on the open market, and commits 15% of global revenue to an environmental fund whose distribution is set by DAO vote.

One threshold hasn’t moved with the portal. Converting in-game diamonds into MLC still requires staking at least $100 worth of the token.
